Age & Birthday: 18 years old. 02 November 1996.

Appearance: Matt is a tall slim young man who stands at 1.84

meters or 6' 1". He has his mother’s dirty to dark blonde hair but doesn't share her bright green eyes. Instead he got his father’s grey eyes which by coincidence seem to match that of the woman he thought was his grandmother. Though they don’t share any blood, she believes that he got her eyes. While the Kriegmesser family is built quite firm and muscular Matthew actually is pretty slender but not so that his male body gets mixed up with that of a girl. His face features are quite tight, especially his cheekbones and jaw. They are quite narrow and his chin flows the lines into a slim shape. Both his mouth and nose are small. Often he keeps his hair up with gel or wax because he hates it when it gets in front of his eyes. Sometimes there can be hints of his facial hair growing but he keeps it shaven.

He has the following runes this moment: Voyance, Agility, Fortis and Fortitude.

Personality: Until the age of 15 Matthew was a carefree and open boy. He was kind, helpful, tolerant and a good listener. That was before his mother told him the truth about his father. Ever since then he grew more shut in, fearing what could happen to his mother and him if the other shadow hunters may find out. He also was quite embarrassed and knew that this explained a lot why he had trouble bearing runes. In order to pretend that he was just like anyone else, he trained harder then ever before. This left his social life behind. This far hasn't he dared to talk about it except with his mother. If someone came close, he pushed them away and often comes across and rude, angry and mean to those who try to reason with him. He always avoid talking about himself because he is afraid he might let something slip. They don’t understand and they should not try to, because they could find out if they laid down the puzzle.

This lead to Matt gaining more enemies than friends and not daring to take relationships. ‘He has a pretty face but his heart is cold and rotten.’ He hears girls talk behind his back. It hurts but he has to do this to protect his mother and remain operative as a shadow hunter. It is his life and he enjoys the idea of saving the world and mattering. Proving that with hard work talent doesn't matter. Often he comes across as hard working and serious, which is true in contrast to the pretended bitterness. Yet what does comes with this is that he can’t stand it when a team member is holding the others up. Matt is not afraid to scold someone who takes things too easily. He also gets jealous easily even when he tries not have this shown. Due to the secret he tries to keeps, he doesn't trust anyone really. However to those who manage to bare him get rewarded with a rare true kindness he doesn't show often anymore. So only to those who he often spends time with he shows a shade of the person he once was. And yes believe it or not but even when pretending not to; he has a sense of humor and can be a pleasantcompany in smaller groups. Then he is able to show a somewhat awkwardly cocky attitude. 

Weapon of choice: Swords, blades, knives(sharp weapons). His main weapon is a two handed katana but he’s also seen duo wielding with two daggers.

Strengths: Close combat, swordsmanship, courage, perseverance(even when wounded), will to prove, resolute.

Weaknesses: Far rage combat(includes throwing and shooting), bearing runes(they seem to give him a burning pain, the cause of this is that he is more mundane than the other shadowhunters. Due to this; powerful runes are a risk because they could turn mundanes into forsaken), physical strength(seems to be a bit weaker than other shadowhunters, gets more easily hurt)

Character History:

Brought on the world by his mother with help of his ‘grandma’ he spend his first few years like an normal shadow hunter child. Except for being raised without a male figure in his life other than his uncle Amalric(younger brother of Reinhard) Kriegsmesser who came across sometimes. Well actually he is not related to the Kriegsmesser family for his mother had cheated on her fiancee but the world doesn’t know. And neither did Matthew until the age of 15.

Even when he was raised in a strict environment and often spend time with his grandmother in Germany when his mother was busy working. There he also learned the German language. He was mainly raised by these two women who often couldn’t get along. Tianna who knew that Matthew wasn’t actually related to Ingeborg often complained that the elder woman should not interfere with her. Even when Matt was loved and raised by both of them, he didn’t really got along well with other children of his age. Quite often he noticed the difference between him and the others. There were a lot of times when he spend time alone, reading because the other children didn’t want to play with him. Then again there wasn’t much time to play around. Matt started his training early and had three elders(mother, grandma and uncle) to teach him. This way he learned about different technics but he was only talented into close combat using a sword or a dagger. Which was quite dangerous seeing his body gangling skinny body was quite fragile. When it was time for him to go to an institute the two women had a mayor fight if he should go to the Berlin or the London one. In the end his mother won. But they’d wait sending him until the three of them woudn’t be able to raise him themselves anymore.

The fighting skills went better however when it came to getting his first rune mark, things seemed wrong. Tianna noticed that this wasn’t right and he was showing effects of that of a mundane. Scared that going beyond this that her son might turn into a forsaken when using more powerful runes, she stopped trying for a few months. Matt himself wasn’t told any of this and became quite upset that all the children of his age got their first runes already and he was one of the only without. After his mother refused to try it once more he asked his uncle to help him. Strangely the mark worked even when it still hurt him. Tianna was astonished when he returned and showed her the achievement.

In 2007 their lives turned as Amalric was captured by Sebastian Morgenstern and turned into a dark shadow hunter. Amalric being injured as the institute attacked was left and found by those who came to investigate. His mother and wife were told this heartbreaking news and agreed with the silent brothers to try to reverse the effects. Sadly this resulted in a rather painful death and the family was never the same again.

Matthew was sent to the London institute as his grandma now had to take in Amalric’s children because his wife couldn’t take her loss. Tianna was often gone working or meeting Oliver(Matthew’s real father) in secret. He was aged 11 when he entered the big building. At first he just observed the whole situation and didn’t really talk much. Still he remained the sweet and helpful boy he always had been. He missed his mother, grandma and his uncle. Even when his family was small they were really close. Years of hard training went by and Matt became frustrated when others were better in things than he was. Even when he tried harder than everyone else, he didn’t seem realy talented for much. Some elder children told him he fought like a mundane or a girl and should leave the place. This only wanted the boy more to prove himself.

As he turned 15 his mother finally told him the truth and he was shocked. A lot made sense but he didn’t want to believe it was true. At first he told his mother that he didn’t want to have anything to do with her or his real father, scared of being cased out. In the end he choose to help his mother to keep the secret and make sure she and the man she loved could meet without the Clave finding out. His personality turned at this point and did everything to prevent people comming close to his family.

Family History:

Tianna(1974) comes from a well known English shadowhunter family. Their family ring has a pattern of waves of water on it. She grew up with her parents, elder sister (Scarlet, born 1970) and younger brother(Haniel, born 1976). All three siblings got a ring like that. As a shadowhunter she found herself quite talented but often falling behind her sister. Yet the two girls helped each other alot. The three siblings formed a team and the whole family was savaged when the eldest sibling died. Scarlett died at the young age of 21 in combat. Haniel and Tianna continued together but never accepted another member. When Tianna turned 18 she got engaged with a German shadow hunter named Reinhard Kriegsmesser, the son of an old friend of her father. A year after that both her parents disappeared. A search was started but nothing was found. Haniel and Tianna stayed at the London institute until she was taken in by her fiancee.

His real father is a descendant from an exiled shadowhunter woman who married a mundane. This happened 200 years ago and nobody of that family has knowledge of anything beyond the mundane world. Though there have been a few members who could see the Nephilim people and sometimes notice downworlders after spending time with them, but most thought they were losing it. Oliver was one of these people. One night he was suddenly attacked by an unknown force which turned out to be a demon. He was saved by a young woman in strange clothing like he hadn’t seen before. This woman turned out to be Tianna a shadowhunter from the London institute. The two grew some interest towards each other ad Tianna had to explain what happened. She was surprisedthat a mundane could see her and the demon. A friendship was found but the romantic feelings manifested quickly.

Even when she knew what she was doing was against the Nephilim rules and she betrayed her fiancee who she was going to marry within a few weeks but couldn’t go against her feelings. She did care for Reinhard but he was more like a friend to her. In the progress she got pregnant with Oliver first hoping that Reinhard would be the father but counting back it couldn’t have been him. After the wedding took place she told Reinhard she was expecting a child but nee told him she was seeing another man. At the age of 22, being eight months pregnant, her husband was killed by a higher demon who had sworn to wipe out the Kriegmesser line.

Ingeborg, widow of Wolfgang Kriegmesser had lost her husband to the same higher demon a few years before. She was savaged by the loss of her first born son but supported Tianna through the final month and birth. Tianne felt even guiltier than before but accepted the help anyways.
