Appearance: Eleanor is shorting. Coming in at five foot one she can’t really claim otherwise. She has a slight figure to match her short height. Only in recent years has her body began to take a slightly more womanly shape- something that still makes her uncomfortable, and she deems unnecessary and a hindrance to her training. Ellie has a small round face, the most prominent feature on her face is her bright blue eyes, the stand out from behind ebony eyelashes that are the same colour as her long hair. Her skin is pale, a stark contrast to her black hair, her lips plump and pink. If one didn’t know her better they might mistake her for a girly girl.

Personality: In a word, sassy. Eleanor likes to get one up on the boys. She’s quick witted, quick tempered and quick to forgive and forget after she’s said her piece. She’s often excitable and full of beans, something that is useful as it helps her in training. She runs at least five days a week as a way of keeping fit, and also just to clear her head. She thinks of it as her quiet time, just for her. She thinks of herself as one of the boys, this is because she hasn’t really been raised around girls. She uses her wit and sarcasm as a way of covering up her insecurities and the fear that being a girl makes her less to the boys who have recently come to join her in training.

Weapon of choice: Throwing knives and Seraph blades

Strengths: Elle is fast and agile, she can fit into small places and her light weight means that she’s easily able to lift herself up and over things. She is accurate when throwing knives and has enough strength to throw them a good distance. She’s able to think on her feet is a way of keeping herself – and those around her- safe.

Weaknesses: She is impulsive. Ellie doesn’t always think before she rushes into situations and in doing so can put herself and others in danger. Though she is strong for her height and weight she still struggles in one on one combat especially when those she is in combat with are so much bigger than her.

Likes: Getting one up on people. Being sarcastic. Running. Combat. Dancing (only when no one is watching). Cats. Old books.

Dislikes: Sitting still. Being told what to do. Having people get the better of her. Listening to her mother. The silent brothers (‘They’re damned creepy’).

Character History: Eleanor Rosale grew up as the only child in the London Shadow Hunter institute. She never really asked why she and her mother lived there, especially given that it wasn’t her mother who ran the institute, because it was just the norm for her. She had been born in the institute. Raised there, learned there, and trained there. The only thing she didn’t really like about it was the lack of children. Sure the family who ran the institute had children, but they were much older than Ellie, leaving her with no one to learn with. She was a driven child. She didn’t like sitting still, nor did she like having nothing to do.



She was always learning as much as she could, training as much as she was allowed and trying to ignore the feeling that grew in her as she aged that her other resented her. Eleanor hadn’t long turned sixteen when her mother told her that she had to move to Alcante. For business. Without her. She was safer at the institute. She was still learning. London needed her. This was her mothers escape. She had – of course- promised that she would return. She had visited a few times over the passing years, but Elle knew the truth. Her mother just wanted to be free of her. The mistake she had made when she was still a child. Elle worked hard, pushing the rejection from her mind. She didn’t need her mother’s approval, or anyone’s approval. She just needed to be able to do her job. And be the best at it.

Family History: Cristina Rosale’s father, Tomas Rosales, runs the Mexico Institute and she underwent most of her training there. She has a close, sometimes resentful, relationship with her parents who have her whole life mapped out for her, with her mother already envisioning Cristina's marriage to someone she doesn't want to marry. However, Cristina has a different vision of her life. When she turned 18, Cristina decided to go to the Los Angeles Institute to learn about a different Shadowhunter culture. It was while she was in Los Angeles that Cristina met a shadow hunter named Alexander Blackthorn.

They fell in love quickly. Fought alongside one another and Cristina believed that they would marry someday. However, barely six months after meeting him Cristina discovered that she was pregnant. Afraid she turned to Alexander to look for comfort and advice on how they should proceed. Alexander was young and foolish. He told her that he wanted nothing to do with her or her baby. He didn’t want to be a father- he was too young, too free. He told her that if she claimed that the baby was his then he would tell everyone that she was a liar and a cheap woman who slept around.



Shocked and heartbroken Cristina left the Los Angeles institute. She was too ashamed to go home to her parents so instead moved on to the London institute, where she later gave birth to a daughter, Eleanor.
